# Fashion Find – Balenciaga Museum, Spain

Little gems do surface and this was one. Not far from San Sebastian, where we were staying, is the small town of Getaria and it was suggested by our pension host that we should seek it out – indeed we did and hey presto – a little gem.

Cristobal Balenciaga,  fashion guru and pioneer of fashion has a splendid monument. This museum houses 72 of his dresses over his career plus other fashion timeline exhibits – for example – the evolution of display mannequins. Fascinating stuff. The exhibits are beautifully displayed, lighting magnificent, audios, and the building is also a triumph.

“The Balenciaga Museum is housed in a newly built annex to Palacio Aldamar. This majestic villa, on a hilltop overlooking Getaria, was the residence of the Marqués and Marquesa of Casa Torres, grandparents to Queen Fabiola of Belgium and mentors to Balenciaga during the early days of his career.”
